TEHRAN - The use of compressed natural gas (CNG) for taxis moving in big cities must be obligatory, the managing director of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company says.

Abbas Kazemi said that CNG now accounts for 21 percent of the fuel used for transportation, adding, the government should make taxis use CNG because it is cleaner and more cost-effective, ILNA reported on Friday.

Kazemi added that liquid fuel even with Euro 5 standard is still pollutant but CNG is different and cleaner than gasoline.
